With over 300 days of sunshine, Agadir is a beach town in Morocco where you can surf and fish throughout the year. The city beach offers interesting options of sailing, wind surfing, horse-riding, tennis and golfing. The architecture is a mix of traditional Arabic and European styles. While in Agadir, go on an excursion to Taghazout, a 6 kilometre long golden sand beach, lined with pine, eucalyptus and tamarisk trees, which is popular for surfing and camping. This city was developed after a tragic earthquake in 1960 killed about 15,000 people. Where the old town centre stood previously, today there is memorial park with beautiful gardens. Close to the town, visit the small village, Inzgane, for interesting silver jewellery. Pick up spices at the Agadir souk. Go to the ancient Kasbah to get a splendid view of the city, the port to see fishing activity and the Folk Art Museum to see arts of the Souss valley. Restructured, Agadir is Morocco’s city of diversity.
